A low friction composition brake shoe for locomotive use designed to be a direct replacement for cast iron locomotive brake shoes. Key Features Side relief feature reduces edge chipping resulting from excessive lateral movement in the brake rigging. Center relief in the design enables the shoe to conform to varying wheel diameters. Tapered ends combined with a high strength steel back greatly reduce bent ends and delaminated end material by transfering the load at the end of the brake shoe directly to the end of the brake head. Friction formula composition has proven to outperform the competition in headto-head field evaluations through a wide range of environments and braking applications.
